James Moutsos is a crazy wacky stop-motion animator and filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York! He makes crazy, weird, and funny stuff. I mean honestly just look at him. Like what is this guy on!
This is a film about nurturing your inner child, and learning to appreciate the value of life and community, while also rising up to the pressures and responsibilities we all face, and don’t all want to. I want to create this film entirely in stop motion animation, a craft that I’ve been focussing on and improving all my life, and one that I think will perfectly encapsulate the energy and wonder of childhood. Infusing this medium into the story of a young kid who’s on the precipice of becoming someone who is a cynical loner and infusing my own inner turmoil and personality into it, will create a piece of art that is as moving for the audience as it is cathartic for me. I want to reach all kinds of people with this film, both adults embracing the inner child in themselves, and kids who may be overcome with the overwhelming weirdness and madness of the world, and feel like their emotions are minuscule or don’t matter. I want to represent the sadness and mundanity in growing up without a clear direction or purpose, through something that’s entertaining and silly, but also something to show kids that hope can be found anywhere.
