Khomus
The incomprehensibility of the Universe has terrified man from the very beginning of time. The journey of man through the unknown part of the Universe, the connection between ancient man's fear of cosmos with the modern perception of his "I" in the Universe, questions about death, rebirth, the mysteries of the origin of the Universe and all that exists.
This is a story about a man whose spaceship crashed, before dying he teleports to the "other" space. During a journey through the “other” space he enters the “workshop” of God, seeing the stages of the creation of the world, the fragments of God's creativity that exist in the “other” space as in Limbo. The hero meets with objects and creatures in space are consonant with the biblical concept of the creation of all things by God. Images and objects in space are an allegory for these events.
At the end of his journey the hero meets God himself, his soul separates from the physical shell and becomes a part of the God.

Polina Tarasova was born in 1994 and grew up in Belgorod, Russia. Moved to Saint Petersburg in 2015 to attend Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design, where she studied Animation and CGI. Gratuated in 2020. Currently she lives and works in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Polina researches the duality of the universe, which can be full of controversial matters, existing in a tight knot, side by side. She tries to put this together in her artworks, mirroring the feeling of both confusion and admiration towards the modern world around us.
Music video "Khomus" became her directorial debut in 2021.
I chose to direct "Khomus" music video because it discovers the most intriguing matters for me, such as death and what happens after it, the ancientry of the Universe, and what could be interpreted as God being. I had a chance to illustrate genesis creation myth in a different point of view, as it would be seen by a modern man, which is an absolute unique art experience.
This work will always be special to me because it is my directorial debut as well as my first strong development as a contemporary artist.
It also have a sheer energy of a music, made by a collaboration of a two talantive artists Corvad and Alisa Dolgunova, an experimental and unique mixture of electro music and Yakut ethnic song and khomus, a music instrument video was named after.
