Dua Dua - Khayalan Cinta (Love's Fantasy)
Khayalan Cinta
There aren’t many things in life as honest and authentic as our memories of young love and how we grow from the experience.
The song Khayalan Cinta is light & ethereal coming-of-age love story about a girl in the throes of romance in her teenage years. Catching a glimpse of love at first sight; the emotion was so strong that she creates an ideal realm that surrounds her imagination. Within this world, she manifests her love story with her abstract view, where they break the daily routine that gets them out of their comfort zone, leading to a spontaneous adventure together.
The idyllic festive chorus, which was inspired by songs from the ’70s, gives a sense of freedom and calls you to get on the dance floor, which expresses individuality, while still being part of the party.
"The bridge of the song is where we wanted to make her imaginations interrupted by thinking about reality; with thoughts of the boy, who might not feel the same way. At the end of the song, it all goes back to that point, that moment where the first sight happens." -Dua Dua

Dua Dua has multiple meanings in the Malaysian language along with within its essence, is a term to signify duality. A pairing. Both.
The beginning was an "ambitious idea", where a musical project would sound pop at first but underneath all that is experimental and complex ideas.
Individually, their musical tastes are on opposite sides of the spectrum from each other; yet through the prism of electronic dance music — their combined collision of imagination, feelings, experiences & emotions are now the driving force behind their enigmatic partnership.
With a unified, unquestionably genuine ambition; their project has organically taken a life on its own not only by pushing musical boundaries with their eclectic soundscape & technical precision — but by being unapologetically authentic. Very adamant about their creative integrity, Dua Dua not only thrives but celebrates originality in all its forms.
Christiana Chai, a classically trained musician since the age of five; would fine-tuned her longtime passions for her craft at Limkokwing University where she enrolled in Music Technology.
Although Christiana is technically polished; she strongly adheres to the philosophy of; “not overthinking things” allowing her strong intuition to override her classical finesse - which is evident in the raw power and emotion Christiana brings to Dua Dua’s music.
Heavily influenced by pop, hip hop, and R&B, Christiana’s innate ability to take a piece of popular music and give it a unique depth and melancholy derive from her love of high suspense, high drama cinema.
Aiman Rijal, a lowkey musical auteur, fully immersed himself with music at his first concert when he was three years old and still remembers that experience vividly to this day. A memory that has charted his path and vision till this very day. In 2007, Aiman finished University in Construction Management from Taylor's University — which has been an invaluable asset as being multidimensional has helped him edge through the music industry as a music producer. Always putting forethought in both, not only the projects he undertakes but also the teams he forms; with an “achieve nothing but excellent” mentality.
His icy demeanor can be deceiving as his true passion lies in performing arts and entertainment. He spends most of his time experimenting on mastering different forms of tech or reimagining creative approaches to audio & visual mediums — giving his 100% to doing what he truly loves. Never compromising.
Their decision to feature only one female singer throughout the album was following the footsteps of Rufus ft. Chaka Khan & Fleetwood Mac ft. Stevie Nicks during the ’70s. The process of finding the potential superstar made them realize why nobody else would feature only one singer since over 50 years ago, trying to fit in criteria of undiscovered young, unique feel, powerful vocals & the ever-elusive “surprise element”.
Finally finding that talent took time but ultimately was worth the five years of searching and auditioning as when they had their first session with the 19-year-old singer from Ipoh; the performance blew their minds.
Eight years on — is how long it took for them to reach this point where their debut album is complete. Following the rule of quality versus time versus money, they knew they had to stretch their time to achieve their uncompromising quality.
The album consists of four Malay songs, four English songs & five instrumentals. It is a seamless album where the connections are continuous & cohesive.
The upcoming album is an invitation for the majority of passionate youth to be a part of an adventure.
It is the group of people that spends enormous time on something they love to do without the pressure of monetizing their craft.
The music videos will be a series of specific time capsules with the connection that will make sense when watched as a singular body of work.
Singles will be out as pairs with their accompanying music videos building up to the debut album scheduled for release on 22/2/2022.
