Keramikos Project
Hello thanks for visiting!
Description of Keramikos project.
Keramikos project was shot in 2017 but was substantially re-edited in 2019. This film takes "snapshots" of people living in the center of Athens. A neighborhood called Keramikos, is especially contradictory and full of surprises. In the framework of an event, organised by a Collective called “Communitism” in the centre of Athens, I organised a workshop and this short film is the result of it.
One of the themes of this event was to explore Keramikos. So this is what we did! Three people Despina Siati, Mariza Chania and me, took the streets shooting video of people coming from different walks of life. Sometimes we got involved in awkward situations: being criticized, or not being trusted. But also nice moments of well intentioned curiosity, acceptance and warmth.
Our interviews were often not planned but random. I tried to keep this randomness in the editing. In other words, another film editor working with the same material, might have produced a quite different result.

My name is Pavlos Kavadias and I am an independent filmmaker. I was also a photographer and a puppeteer. I have no formal studies in film making but have attended some film seminars from noted Greek film directors.
A small documentary about the destruction of a small river, started me in filmmaking. Since then, I have made travel documentaries, short films and animation. I also experimented with short fiction films always using as simple means of production, as possible.
I have also done workshops about film making concentrating on working as a group, rather than delegating roles.

Two of my films, ”the guest” and ”Tuva in a timeless way” were officially selected in three festivals: Docfest in Greece, Goa and Jaipur film festivals in India.
For me film a means of communication with the people I meet.
