Keep Shining
Keep Shining
All the world is upside down
I’m smothered by the sea around me
Drowning (drowning)
Can’t dull the ache-poison the pain
It taunts my useless body
I am drowning (drowning)
I need a sign to remind me
Who I was
Who I still am inside (inside)
I need a reason to hold on
Let go or swim for my life (my life)
And I hear this faint voice…
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh
All the world is upside down
My dreams are crashing to the ground
I’m falling (falling)
Can’t fight the fear deaden the dread
A horror show inside my head
I’m falling (falling)
I need a sign to remind me
who I was-who I still am inside (inside)
I need a reason to hold on
Let go or cling to my life (my life)
And I hear this faint voice…
Keep shining
Oh beautiful one
Oh-the world needs your light
Keep shining
Oh beautiful one
Oh-the world needs your light
(Keep shining)
Wouldn’t it be easier
(Oh beautiful one)
But I’m not the same
(Oh-the world needs your light)
And what will they say
Could I even find the strength
(Keep shining)
But I’m not special-I’m not special
(Oh beautiful one)
And here I feel safe
(Oh-the world needs your light)
I might make a mistake
But I might find my place
(Keep shining)
And what if they laugh-what if I fall
(Oh beautiful one)
And what if I can’t do it the same
(Oh-the world needs your light)
Cuz I’m not the same
Could I even find my way
(Keep shining)
And what if I’m just me-I’m just me
(Oh beautiful one)
Will that be enough-be enough
(Oh-the world needs your light)
Will I ever tell myself
I’m enough-I just need to
Keep shining
Oh beautiful one
Oh-the world needs your light
Keep shining
Oh beautiful one
Oh-the world needs your light
Keep shining
Oh beautiful ones
Oh-the world needs our light

San Francisco-based singer-songwriter, artist, playwright, author, filmmaker Lisa Sniderman, aka: Aoede, has been honored with more than 80 awards for her songwriting, audiobooks, music videos, books and stage plays since 2012. She's accomplished all of this against a fierce obstacle-while suffering from a rare disease: dermatomyositis (DM), a progressive muscle weakness disease. Sniderman created her fantasy musical world after a lengthy hospitalization in 2010 due to a flare of her DM. Sniderman’s three musical audiobooks have garnered numerous Children's and stage play awards, and were considered for Grammy Awards.
Living with chronic illness, Sniderman creates, records, and shares her original musicals, art and music to heal. Says Sniderman, “Music and art are my lifelines; I just cannot stop creating.” Sniderman published her memoir: “A Light in the Darkness: Transcending Chronic Illness through the Power of Art and Attitude” (Crimson Cloak Publishing, Sep 2018), chronicling ten years living with rare chronic illness while obsessively creating to heal. She's collaborated with more than 50 artists around the world also creating to heal and recently produced an online video showcase featuring conversations with 45 artists and a live/webcast event (Dec 2018).
I foster healing by giving your creative spirit wings and inspiring you to share your story!
Keep Shining
Before the closing of a live show I produced, "Lights in the Darkness-Creating to Heal," in December 2018, we came together as a group and sang a new song I wrote for the event called “Keep Shining,” an expressive anthem inspired by all of the stories I absorbed from interviewing 45 artists also creating to heal. The song is intended for those who may want to give up. While I voiced my inner fears, doubts, questions and insecurities, our live performers kept repeating the chorus to "Keep Shining" as a powerful, uplifting counterpoint. I collaborated with more than 20 artists, who contributed vocals to a new recording. I also created a music video, which shares my story and struggle with rare illness, disability and my recovery and serves as a powerful reminder to never give up. I'm also working on a virtual summit: "Keep Shining: How to Thrive With Chronic Illness and Limited Energy" to inspire those living with chronic illness, disabilities or dealing with difficult life challenges to continue to thrive.
