Kennan McLaren might be a 20 year old Filmmaker and Creative from Charlottesville, Virginia. He might be an independent writer, director, and editor with lofty aspirations of still being those things and paying rent. It's possible that he's in his third and final year of the Cinema program at VCUArts, where he's probably learning more about screenwriting and the filmmaking process every day. He's made 7 short films in the past, so he says, with Keep Me Company being his 8th and biggest one yet. Apparently, Kennan's next project could be about vampires, or cyborgs, or something; and it might be funny. Supposedly, he loves telling strange stories and goofy jokes to anyone that'll listen, and the people in his life that keep him afloat. Thanks guys, I love you all.
I fell across the script for Keep Me Company after marathoning all the Friday the Thirteenth movies in two nights. I absolutely adore 80s horror slashers: anything campy, bloody, and with a great villain can keep me entertained all night! They have such a fun personality baked into their essence that it rubs off on you like it's nothing. But, I've always found something so alluring about modern horror flicks, especially the slow, still, and distant ones. They get under my skin and keep me up at night. Keep Me Company is an attempt to use the lessons learned from 80s slasher cinema, like Friday the Thirteenth and Halloween, and incorporate the teachings of modern movies like It Follows and The Witch.
