Kayla Zanakis is an AEA Domini-Greek actor based in New York City with Miami roots. Critics have called her performances “Broadway-quality” and “phenomenal.” A graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Kayla has received the President's Service Award, Best Actor Award, and Community Connector Award. She is an INTAR Unit 52 member and has performed Off-Broadway in The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals (Lynn F. Angelson Theatre) and you don’t have to do anything (HERE Arts Center).
Select theatre credits include "heaven is a place in the sky" (The Tank), "Aztec Pirates and the Insignificance of Life on Mars"(Chain Theatre), "SWAY" (Flea Theatre co-production with The Fled Collective), "No Mercy" (DR2 Theatre), and "Richard III" (Shanghai Theatre Institute Winter Festival), where she portrayed six different characters. She has also performed at venues like Radio City Music Hall, 54 Below, Caveat, Soho Playhouse, and more. Recent workshop credits include "Quantum" (Primary Stages), "yo-ho", "Legume" (Artist Co-op), and "this old haunt" (Fort Salem Theatre, nominated for Broadway World’s Best New Musical).
Beyond acting, Kayla is an activist and producer. In 2017, she worked with the Mayor of New York City to send first-aid supplies to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. This initiative inspired her to create Artists in Action, a three-tier activism organization supporting domestic and international needs. Since then, she has organized drives with The Bowery Mission and Helping Women Period.
