Katy Erin is an award winning actor and screenwriter, as well as a director and producer.
She was born and raised in a small town in central Texas, which perhaps contributed to her early passion for the art of escapism. After spending her formative years taking drama club and marching band much too seriously, she moved to Austin to study filmmaking at the University of Texas before graduating and relocating to Los Angeles.
She has since appeared on television shows such as Showtime’s Shameless, where she was directed by Emmy winner William H Macy, and Wisdom of the Crowd on CBS, where she recurred alongside Natalia Tena and Jeremy Piven. Most recently, Katy starred in the indie feature Millennium Bugs. Critics have hailed the movie to be a “breakout hit” and “the next cult classic,” and Katy's performance has been described as “raw, honest,” and “captivating.” Prior to that, she was best known for playing it-girl Edison on the hit LGBTQ+ web series Gal Pals, which has over 10 million channel views and was voted WhoHaHa's Favorite Web Series of 2018. Katy also served as a producer for the highly anticipated third and final season, which premiered in September of 2020.
As a writer, she's been honored as “Best of the Year” at the Sci-Fi Screenplay Festival of Toronto, a First Place Winner at OtherWorlds Austin, a Screencraft Comedy Quarterfinalist, an Austin Film Festival Second Rounder, and a two-time Semifinalist of the WeScreenplay Diverse Voices Competition. Her short films have screened in festivals around the world, including her most recent, Bootstrapped, a time travel comedy now streaming on AMC’s Shudder. Currently, she’s attached to direct the pilot of the queer musical comedy series Groovy Tuesdays while continuing to develop and produce her own original material.
