Katla Sólnes is a wry and aesthetically driven writer-director from Iceland, represented by True North Talent. She is a Sundance Screenwriters Lab fellow (‘25 with her feature Eruption) and has been the recipient of support from Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and The Indian Paintbrush. She is an adjunct assistant professor in Screenwriting at Columbia University.
She is a recent graduate of Columbia's illustrious MFA film program, and recently won Columbia’s Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Screenwriting Competition with her feature, which is currently in development with funding from the Icelandic Film Fund, titled ‘Eruption’. Her other short films ‘Make a Wish, Benóný’, ‘Whim Rules the Child and Weather the Field’ and ‘With the Arrival of Spring’ have screened and won awards at festivals worldwide. She’s currently in post-production of her thesis short ‘Embla’ a feminist fable fully supported by The Indian Paintbrush.
