Kat Mills Martin is a critically-acclaimed filmmaker from Hawai'i. Kat is currently a Directing Fellow with Women in Film. She is a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she studied experimental theater, dance, and cinema. Her work has screened at Raindance Film Festival, Inside Out Toronto, Cinequest, LA Asian Pacific Film Festival, and Hawai’i International Film Festival, among others. Traversing the transcendent to the mundane with equal reverence, Kat’s work deconstructs elements of our human experience with compassion and humor. She's invested in telling the stories of women, people of color and culture, and LGBTQ+ characters through a real-world lens. Kat’s award-winning debut feature film WAKE UP, LEONARD, a fully improvised comedy, screened at 20+ film festivals worldwide and will be released in November 2023.
