I am interested in stories that expand and deepen the way we see our lives and what matters. What excites me is what we are capable of - in the positive sense - rooted in a realistic appreciation of human frailty and the human condition.
But hey, life happens regardless! and depending on the context, if my stories can capture the fun, laughter, nonsense, romance, love and nature that can help sustain us, I will find a way.
A highly industrious type, I thrive working to a deadline, very much enjoy working with others on a project, and I write what I care about. Visited Ukrainan refugees in Poland at the outset of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, and after that, it was hard to write about anything else. I have since visited wartime Ukraine three times to help in the writing of 'Odesa' (2 pics above are from Odesa and 1 from Lviv: student actors from Lviv university after a table read of Odesa)
My screenplay in progress 'Arcadia' is an adventure set in the future, but is not dystopian.
I wrote the Kirkus-starred novel "The Journey of Water" after walking 900km solo from London to Geneva, and discovering along the way, how we too readily give our power away.
I tend to have one foot out the door. Life-long voracious appetite for learning and travel, mostly off the beaten track. I no longer dance on tables (well, mostly) ... but I had the pleasure recently to give that attribute to a lead character. Writing is such a pleasure and privilege. It connects me to humanity, expands the heart and so much more.
Screenwriting training with L.A.'s Script Anatomy. MFA at Queens University Charlotte NC with Fred Leebron and Khris Baxter, during which I was selected for an advanced fellowship working with a senior editor from Random House NY. Former journalist, researcher, charity CEO/Founder.
