Environment and prop artist looking forward to attending grad school and pursuing further schooling focused on interactive media.
Kate Miller is a graduate of the Emerging Media BFA at the University of Central Florida. Originally from Tampa, Florida, Kate began her career as a largely traditional artist. She learned how to draw and paint in middle school, but did not expand to becoming a digital artist until later in life, despite often being inspired by animation and other digital media. On top of pursuing an art career, Kate also has a deep appreciation for ancient history, space, and paleontology. She owes much of her childhood to the history and science television programming of the 2010s.
During her tenure at the Animation and Visualization program at UCF, Kate found a new appreciation for the foundational principles of art while taking studio art classes at the university. The school’s academic and rigorous approach to drawing and design allowed her to expand her skills and grow her appreciation for traditional art. Still, her desire to expand her knowledge and venture into obtaining a more complex skillset pushed her to apply to the school’s animation program.
In the UCF Animation and Visualization program, she eventually connected her love of traditional art to 3D modeling. Kate’s art has been displayed at various exhibitions, including UCF Celebrates the Arts and Art Knight, the latter of which she and her team demonstrated their animation processes to hundreds of event attendees. Kate exhibited her research on methods for digital face replacement in stop-motion animation during the UCF student scholar symposium in March 2025. Kate also intends to continue studying 3D art processes as a student of Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy’s Fall 2025 cohort.
