Karlstown
USA, 1878: In the German city of Karlstown a secretive Afro-American drifter and his big-mouthed Turkish companion are confronted with the fear and prejudice of the inhabitants – and that’s their least problem. When mysterious savages attack at night, Karlstown descends into chaos. The drifter has to face his violent past and is forced to make a momentous decision.

Best German Short Film
Way before she could even write, she dictated short stories to
her parents, and, at the age of 12, had already written her first 40-page screenplay. After finishing her acting studies in Frankfurt (Main), she moved to Berlin where she joined Eskindir Tesfay’s film production company MOVIE-DO in 2011. In 2012, she wrote and produced the short film IN DUBIO, followed by the action short ROUGHTOWN only one year later, which was featured at several film festivals and won “Best German Short Film“ at the Berlin Short Film Festival. In 2014, Katja successfully completed her degree in screenwriting. More short films followed, among them three for former karate world champion and motivational speaker Jörg Gantert as well as a dozen episodes of a scripted reality TV series. Aside from KARLSTOWN, Katja currently works on two feature-length film projects.
