After quitting his unfulfilling yet lucrative tech career in 2022, he spent the remainder of the year traveling to different parts of the world. During this season, Kalvin reawakened his childhood passion for filmmaking as he spent time documenting his travels across different countries.

Kalvin is motivated by his passions in science, art, filmmaking, theology, and teaching to help make an impact in the world. Kalvin is inspired to create stories that reflect the human condition. He’s drawn to stories within the genres of fantasy, science-fiction, psychological thriller, historical, suspense, and animation.

With an educational background in the mathematical sciences, he’s worked in research fields within artificial intelligence, public policy, and health care. Working within these fields has granted him perspective on their impacts on society at large.

Kalvin is interested in understanding people and places of different cultures, ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and religions. He’s fascinated by how these things connect us as we try to strive and grow as human beings.

He makes his directorial debut through his short Last Infantry, a war film centered around the relationship between a soldier and a lost child.
