Kai Fiáin is a screenwriter, director and producer. They began their filmmaking career in documentary, working with community groups and political activists using video as a tool for marginalised voices. Kai made documentary work on subjects such as LGBTQ asylum seekers, globalisation and working class sub-cultures. More recently Kai has begun writing and directing narrative dramas describing their work as “Urban folk tales from the margins. Kai's work has screened on Channel 4 and internationally at numerous film festivals including: LSFF; BFI Flare; Berlin Feminist FF; London Feminist FF and Toronto LGBT FF.
Their short film 'The Brother' won Channel 4's Random Acts Award; best film under 5 minutes
Kai Fiáin is also part of the programming team for East London's Fringe! Queer Film and Arts Festival.
