Kahwa - The exotic tea of Kashmir
Saffron Kahwa is a traditional tea preparation consumed in Kashmir from where it spread to Central Asia . Traditionally Kahwa is prepared in copper kettle known as samawaar. It has a fire container running in the central cavity of the kettle in which live coal is kept that keeps the Kahwa sizzling hot. Kahwa is more of a cultural nuance of the place rather than a simple recipe.

Faculty mobile film making and head of producing whistling woods international Mumbai , India .
I have been teaching mobile filmmaking for the last 8 years in whistling woods international (Asia’s largest Film School) and done numerous workshops out side as well. Being a Kashmiri by origin, I have not grown immune to the abundance of physical and cultural beauty of the place, probably because I have stayed and worked outside the valley for many years. So, I wanted to experiment with this format and see if I can capture the raw beauty of this place in a format like the iPhone. The second reason for shooting this film was to challenge the film trainer in me, who is has majorly worked on high end camera equipment and sound systems. Thirdly I also wanted to understand the psyche and the experience of a film school graduate, who is exposed to all professional formats and is used to a structured approach- what are the strengths and the set of challenges he would encounter while using this gear. In the coming three months we are going to be working with Apple, making films on iPhone, this will help me understand the student filmmakers better.
