‘KO AU’ is an animated short film that retells the classic Cook Island legend of Katikatia. The old lady who lives in a cave and eats children.
Told from the perspective of a young maiden who falls in love with a young man from another village. this film asks the question, “what would make a person kill a child?”

Director Biography - Mii Taokia

As a Cook Island creative and accomplished musician, Taokia looked at a positive way to connect and collaborate with creatives here and across the Pacific during the global pandemic.
Taokia rose to the challenge in 2020 by producing and directing the bi-weekly web series “Kreative Kokanuts” and in 2021, Taokia became director of animation in the up coming short film, Taonga by fellow Cook Islander and creative Glenda Tuaine.
Taokia is excited to debut his first film as a director.
