Hiroshi Takano a.k.a Pineapple-man is a Japanese director and writer.
My hometown is famous for its Fireworks show which is The Nagaoka Festival Grand Fireworks Show held every August, yet it was canceled two years in a row due to COVID-19.
It started as a festival for restoration from War Devastation after WW2 and had never been canceled in history at that time. Every time it is held, we think of the war dead and hope for peace. It is not just a festival to us, but our heart. So, we have to pass it down from generation to generation without interrupting. I made this short not only because I am a filmmaker but also because I am one of those who has been passed the legacy down.
We started the production under the pandemic, and the situation was kind of tough. We were told to make sure to keep everything safe from COVID-19 when I asked the city office to collaborate. So, I chose micro filmmaking with shooing on my Smartphone. It was so challenging to me, but I could show the potential of a new age of filmmaking. Even the situation surrounding us is getting tougher, WE DON'T GIVE UP.
