Kisima Awards have been re-launched into Kisima Music & Film Awards to culminate in an annual awards ceremony to be held on Sunday, December 13th 2020, Nairobi Kenya. This year’s Kisima Music & Film Awards is a Pan African event dedicated to promoting culture, music, stories, creativity, and skills in Africa, by Africans, for Africans unto the world. 

For the very first time, the Kisima Music & Film Awards is open to the WHOLE of Africa. The Kisima Music & Film Awards – a Pan-African melting pot of authentic talent-driven by an unrelenting zeal to show-case the rich diversity of African Music and film. It is not because the Kisima Music & Film Awards 2020 have answers to all questions on music and film across Africa, No. It is only because these awards have a song with no ending…the song of Africa’s Vibrancy and beauty in the arts. We as Kisima want to dance to these songs and glory in the light of these creative stories as told in film. For the very first time and going forward, this celebration of Africa’s rich vibrancy from the core has fused with Africa’s rise; positioning herself in the contemporary world, the Kisima Music & Films Awards will be a celebration of African talent, a strenghening of African solidarity and a point convergence for show-casing African talent, dreams and aspirations. This time round, the KISIMA MUSIC & FILM AWARDS is pro-active towards championing the course for Africa’s Emancipation Economically, Socially & Politically.

Length: Short Films and/or Documentaries should be 40 minutes or less. Feature films should be a minimum of 60 minutes.

Who May Enter: Films must have African producer, director, cast or crew to qualify. Only the film maker (producer, director or executive producer) may submit an entry for the Awards.

Copyright: PLEASE NOTE: If the Production uses material (including music) that may be owned by a third party (or if a third party has any right or interest in such material), you may be required to give written proof that the third party has consented to the use of the material for the purpose of making the production.

Films MUST have been screened in country of origin either public or private.
Films made available through a reputable commercial streaming distribution service or Video on Demand qualify for awards consideration.
For eligibility, the producers must be citizens or permanent residents of the submitting country.
The submitting country must certify that creative control of the film was in the hands of citizens or residents of that country.
Submitted films produced in their original language and not with English dialogues, must be subtitled in English.

Decisions and Awards
A jury of long serving, well-known developers and Technical experts will review all the entries and nominate them accordingly into the categories they deem relevant.
The Jury’s decision will be final and no discussions will be entered into.
The Kisima Music & Film Awards accepts no responsibility for late, misdirected, lost or illegible entries.
Awards will not be transferable but winners may appoint representatives to receive awards on their behalf.
Failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions will result in disqualification and an alternate may be selected at the discretion of the jury and management committee

The Jury for Competition will be comprised of prominent representatives of: filmmakers, actors and actresses, producers, film festival programmers, representatives of culture/ pan-Africanists.
Five international adjudicators will be established, one for each competitive section
The majority of members from each of the juries will come from countries other than Awards host country. No Jury member will be assigned if previously had taken part in the making of any film in the competition.

Our Rights

You hereby grant the Kisima Music and Film Awards Committee the non-exclusive and irrevocable right to broadcast and/or exhibit (and authorize to any third party the broadcast/exhibition of) submitted trailers of the video game in all media (including, without limitation, television, video on demand, satellite video on demand, multimedia distribution systems, ADSL, internet and mobile/handheld devices) during the nomination and voting process with the aim of promoting the awards.
All material created by Kisima Music & Film Awards featuring excerpts of the production is and shall remain the property of its management.

Third Party Copyright
You warrant and confirm that you own or have obtained all rights and/or releases necessary including without limitation:
All rights, releases and/or copyright clearance in relation to all material included in the production owned or controlled by a third party including music, literary, dramatic and/or artistic works;
Releases for all locations featured in the Film;
Consents from all persons featured in, portrayed or contributing to the filming and production of the project, including the director;
License to use all copyright work used in the production or required for its exploitation, including scripts;


You agree to provide the name and biography of all those involved in the production of the film and grant us the right to use such information in promoting and marketing of the awards
You agree, and will use reasonable efforts, to get other participants in the production of the film agree to take part in reasonable publicity for the Awards when requested.

Third Parties

You warrant and represent that you have the right to enter into this Agreement and to grant the rights set out herein.

You indemnify and hold harmless the Kisima Music & Film Awards management, and its affiliated Corporations, from and against any and all claims, suits, liabilities, judgments and Damages arising out of a breach by you of any of the obligations, representations or Warranties contained in these Terms and Conditions.
