Kia Ora Whānau,
Ko Aaliyah Cash toku ingoa.
I am the director/writer of ‘Ka Kite Māmā’ - I’m so excited, I get the opportunity to share my short film as it holds such an important significance to whānau and my heart.
Ka Kite Māmā tackles a big theme, which is grief. I wrote this film with the intention of showcasing grief from a Tama (Male’s) perspective - as I feel that there is a big stigma that if males express their emotions it means they’re weak. I also made sure to incorporate Te Ao Māori into this film as, I am a proud Maori wahine - that believes that that our Māori/Pasifika stories need to be told and heard.
Im just excited for people to witness a heartwarming story.
This is my first ever professional production debut, therefore I hope you like it.
This film also honours those that have sadly passed and for men to see that it is okay to be vulnerable.
Hope you like it e te whānau
