Justin Maffett, 31, is a writer, lawyer, and multimedia storyteller whose work blends personal narrative with public impact. A graduate of Columbia Law School and Dartmouth College, he draws from his background in journalism, advocacy, and law to explore themes of mental health, resilience, and self-liberation through narrative media.
His independently produced autobiographical short, The Wildest Pearl, had a limited premiere on BRIC TV and was submitted for consideration at the 68th Annual New York Emmy® Awards. The film builds on Maffett’s lived experience, which was also profiled in Rep. Patrick Kennedy’s book, Profiles in Mental Health Courage. Maffett's work reflects a commitment to truth-telling, artistic experimentation, and emotional clarity.
Maffett serves as a peer review judge for the New York Emmy® Awards, evaluating submissions from other regional chapters to uphold industry standards and recognize outstanding work in television production and journalism.
