“I pursue peculiar ideas, while telling the story in the most honest way- to remove myself as a filmmaker, where and when possible, and to allow the unconventional truths of the believers tell that story in the most unfiltered way possible. The work encompasses fringe ideas, seemingly absurd to those who subscribe to dogmatic and finite conventional thought processes, but absolutely necessary to command progressive advances.” -Justin Brown
In the past, I’ve worked as a musician which led to an education in Audio Engineering. Through good fortune I landed a position as an engineer for the largest recording studio east of Montreal, at Sonic Temple Studios, under the guidance of owner Lil Thomas. The experience and education I had developed over that period helped prepare me for a move into podcasting a few years later, producing and hosting a few different shows on both terrestrial radio, and the internet (Unified Field Radio/ UFOnaut Radio). The podcasting medium allowed me to interview some of the most amazing people, like the former Canadian Minister of National Defense, a nuclear physicist, filmmakers, right on down to ‘alien’ abductees. I tied video into these podcasts in an attempt to reach wider audiences, and in doing so garnered over a million views on one of them, through a partner in Silicon Valley. Obviously, the next logical artistic direction for me was film. Now I could explore the multi-dimensional aspects of art, from sound design to visual media, creating a time-capsule of human emotion, chasing the unusual stories I had uncovered in radio. My colourful past allowed that transition from passive witness of the craft, to active participant.
