Julia "Cheryl "Bookout is a filmmaker and studio artist residing in Joshua Tree, CA. Bookout directed the short documentary film INSIDE THE BEATUY BUBBLE, which entered the film festival circuit in January 2022 and to-date has won the Audience Award at the 2022 San Luis Obispo Film Festival and at the 2022 Dances With Films Festival plus the Sadie Katz Hustle Award at the 2022 Amdocs Film Festival. INSIDE THE BEAUTY BUBBLE is slated to screen in national and international film festivals for the remainder of 2022.
Her TV pilot script, WOMEN OF STEEL: GRACIE'S STORY was awarded finalist in the 2021 Screencraft screenplay competition and an official selection of the 2021 Sherman Oaks Film Festival. Bookout is currently producing a feature-length documentary ACTING LIKE WOMEN and a short narrative film titled JUST A FRIEND. She is the Executive Director and Founder of The Chimaera Project, a nonprofit that champions women and non-binary filmmakers.
