In transit, Carlo reminisces the blissful memories of his beloved mother, Joy, who died three months ago while the country was in lockdown facing a worldwide pandemic. As he returns to his hometown Pampanga to reunite with his family, he will be facing a first birthday without his mother.

Director Biography - Carlo Enciso Catu

CARLO ENCISO CATU is an internationally acclaimed and multi-awarded young Filipino filmmaker from the region of Pampanga. His 2018 film, Waiting For Sunset, bagged the Special Jury Prize Award at the Fantasporto International Film Festival, “Directors Week” section in Portugal; and the Audience Choice Award at the Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinemas in France. The same film was also awarded as the Best Feature Film at the 14th Cinemalaya Film Festival in the Philippines, which also took home the prestigious NETPAC Jury Prize of that year.

In 2015, he was awarded Best New Talented Director at the London International Filmmakers Film Festival and Best Debut Feature Film Director at the All Lights India International Film Festival for his debut feature, Ari: My Life With a King, this feature film also won the Best World Film Award at the Harlem International Film Festival; and won the Best Picture Award at the Metro Manila Film Festival, “New Wave” section; it is also been named as one of the 50 Best Filipino Films of the 21st Century.

Today, Carlo Enciso Catu is working as a film director, script writer and recently worked as a festival director and producer with his very own production company, the Yatu Film Productions. A boutique production company established in 2019 with the aim of helping more young filmmakers capture and tell their stories to the world.
