The Josiah Media Festival is URBAN-15’s annual, worldwide youth-film festival!
This film festival is exclusively for filmmakers age 21 and younger. However, filmmakers over 21 years old can still enter any film that they made when they were 21 or under going back two years (2018). Filmmakers interested in submitting their work should be born on or after June 1st, 1999 unless they are entering a film made while they were 21 or younger.
It is completely FREE to submit your short film and filmmakers can enter as many films as they choose! Films must be no longer than 20 minutes total-running-time.
With cash prizes awarded to first-place winning filmmakers, excellent international participation, and no entry fees, you have nothing to lose by entering your film!
Though we can accept your film(s) via FilmFreeway, we still require all filmmakers to complete our Entry & Release forms before we can accept your submission(s) - any films submitted without a completed entry AND release form will NOT be accepted into the competition! You can download these forms at our website, josiahmediafestival.com or via the following address:
Once you have completed these two forms, please email them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Josiah Media Festival is named after Josiah Miles Neundorf, a talented filmmaker from San Antonio, Texas who passed away in 2006 as a result of osteosarcoma. Despite his short twenty years with us, Josiah expanded the lives of those around him through his brilliance, joy, and determination to create outstanding works in the midst of the physical ravages from this disease. In honor of this artist, his parents, Marcus and Nancy Neundorf, and the URBAN-15 Group created the Josiah Media Festival, an annual film festival designed to showcase outstanding works by young film, video, and media artists.
Prizes will be awarded to the first-place winners in each of the four film categories! Award certificates and letters will be awarded to the first, second and third-place winners in each of the four film categories with an additional prize awarded to the “Best of Show” winner!
All LOCAL (San Antonio-based) filmmakers MUST be in attendance at the Josiah Media Festival Awards Ceremony in order to receive their awards and prizes. Awards and prizes will not be mailed or delivered to LOCAL filmmakers. LOCAL filmmakers understand that they forfeit their award and prize(s) if they are not in attendance at the Awards Ceremony.
All winning-filmmakers outside of San Antonio, Texas will be asked to accept their awards and prizes via Skype or a pre-taped acceptance video. Awards and prizes will be mailed out to all non-local filmmakers immediately following the Awards Ceremony.
Filmmakers MUST email email@example.com if they are unable to attend the ceremony or if they would like to Skype to accept your award. The URBAN-15 Group reserves the right to withhold or retract any cash prizes awarded.
