Josiah Media Festival

The Josiah Media Festival is open to filmmakers 21 years old or younger around the world! Filmmakers must have been born on or after August 1st, 2003 or must have been 21 years old or younger at the time the submitted film was made. Please note that we cannot accept films created more than 2 years before our submission deadline (August 1st, 2022).

All key contributors on the submitted film - director, writer, editor, director of photography - must have been 21 years old or younger at the time the submitted film was made (this does not include actors, producers, or any other crew members not listed above).

Films must not exceed 20 minutes total-run-time (TRT includes all credit sequences within the film).

All films that are not in English must be subtitled or dubbed in English or they will not be accepted into the competition (SRT files that have not been embedded into the video file are not acceptable).

All music and other copyright material within the submitted film must be used with permission of the composers and/or copyright holders.

All films entered must use a Stereo audio mix/format

All films submitted must have been completed within two years of the August 1st, 2024 submission deadline.

All film submissions MUST be accompanied with a completed Entry Form AND a signed Filmmaker’s Release Form.

These PDF forms can be filled in digitally or you can print, complete, scan and email the forms.

Entry and release forms should be completed in full and emailed as PDFs to josiahfestival@urban15.org. You can also mail hard copies of your forms to Josiah Media Festival, 2500 South Presa, San Antonio, TX 78210.

Please fill in ALL applicable areas of the Entry Form and the Filmmaker’s Release Form. All information necessary to verify your eligibility must be provided.

Primary festival correspondence will be exchanged through the email address provided in the Entry Form. Each filmmaker must provide their own current email address and check regularly for festival updates and awards announcements. Faculty/Mentor email is not solely sufficient; please note that filmmakers may not be eligible for prizes if they do not provide their own email address.

All local (San Antonio-based) filmmakers must be in attendance at the Josiah Media Festival Awards Ceremony in order to receive their awards and prizes. Awards and prizes will not be mailed or delivered to LOCAL filmmakers. LOCAL filmmakers understand that they forfeit their award and prize(s) if they are not in attendance at the awards ceremony.

All winning-filmmakers outside of San Antonio, Texas will be asked to accept their awards and prizes via Zoom or a to film an acceptance video that can be shown during the Awards Ceremony. Awards and prizes will be sent out to all non-local filmmakers following the Awards Ceremony. Filmmakers must email josiahfestival@urban15.org if they are unable to attend the awards ceremony or if they would like to use Zoom to accept their award.
