The Josiah Media Festival is named after Josiah Miles Neundorf, a talented filmmaker from San Antonio, Texas who passed away in 2006 as a result of osteosarcoma. Despite his short twenty years with us, Josiah expanded the lives of those around him through his brilliance, joy, and determination to create outstanding works in the midst of the physical ravages from this disease. In honor of this artist, his parents, Marcus and Nancy Neundorf, and the URBAN-15 Group created the Josiah Media Festival, an annual film festival designed to showcase outstanding works by young film, video, and media artists.
Nearly $2,000 (USD) in cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third-place winners in each of the four film categories! Award certificates, laurels and letters will also be awarded and sent to the winners in each of the film categories. Cash prizes will be sent primarily through PayPal, if available in your country.
All local (San Antonio-based) filmmakers MUST be in attendance at the Josiah Media Festival Awards Ceremony in order to receive their awards and prizes. Awards and prizes will not be mailed or delivered to LOCAL filmmakers. LOCAL filmmakers understand that they forfeit their award and prize(s) if they are not in attendance at the Awards Ceremony.
All winning-filmmakers outside of San Antonio, Texas will be asked to accept their awards and prizes via Zoom or a to film an acceptance video that can be shown during the Awards Ceremony. Awards and prizes will be sent out to all non-local filmmakers following the Awards Ceremony.
Filmmakers must email josiahfestival@urban15.org if they are unable to attend the ceremony or if they would like to use Zoom to accept your award. The URBAN-15 Group reserves the right to withhold or retract any cash prizes awarded.
