The Josiah Media Festival is URBAN-15’s annual, worldwide youth-film festival!

This film festival is exclusively for filmmakers age 21 and younger! However, filmmakers over 21 years old can still enter any film that they made when they were 21 or under going back two years (2016). Filmmakers interested in submitting their work should be born on or after June 1st, 1997 unless they are entering a film made while they were 21 or younger.

It is completely FREE to submit your short film and filmmakers can enter as many films as they choose! Films must be no longer than 20 minutes total-running-time.

With $1850 in prizes awarded to winning filmmakers, excellent international participation, and no entry fees, you have nothing to lose by entering your film!

Though we can accept your film(s) via FilmFreeway, we still require all filmmakers to complete our Entry & Release forms before we can accept your submission(s) - any films submitted without a completed entry AND release form will NOT be accepted into the competition! You can download these forms at our website, or via the following address:

Once you have completed these two forms, please email them to us at

The Josiah Media Festival is named after Josiah Miles Neundorf, a talented filmmaker from San Antonio, Texas who passed away in 2006 as a result of osteosarcoma. Despite his short twenty years with us, Josiah expanded the lives of those around him through his brilliance, joy, and determination to create outstanding works in the midst of the physical ravages from this disease. In honor of this artist, his parents, Marcus and Nancy Neundorf, and the URBAN-15 Group created the Josiah Media Festival, an annual film festival designed to showcase outstanding works by young film, video, and media artists.

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 filmmakers in each of the four film categories with an additional prize awarded to the "Best of Show" winner - 13 prizes total!

Prizes will be awarded in the form of gift cards to B&H Photo and Video. Using these cards, winners can order anything they choose from B&H's enormous variety of film, audio, lighting & storage equipment. We hope that through this purchase at B&H, making your next film will be a little bit easier!

First-place Winners - $250 B&H Gift Card
Second-place Winners - $100 B&H Gift Card
Third-place Winners - $50 B&H Gift Card
Best of Show Winner - An additional $250 B&H Gift Card ($500 total!)

I've been through already a few festivals, but this one was the best I have experienced so far.. honestly. Here are some reasons why: from the time when my short film "The Trees Will Remember" has been accepted festival immediately contacted me and started to take care of me and my film. They gave me all the information before I've asked, they were very willing to asnwer all my addition questions and very welcoming. Since my film won the 1st price in Narrative category, they were interesting in doing with my live interview via Skype for Award ceremony since I'm from Europe and there wasn't a chance to attend. Everything went very smoothly, they took a good care of all (like doing video tests before..). I felt very friendly atmosfere, hospitality and supporting in all specs from their side. I can't be more proud to be a part of this festival and I hope that I will have a chance to submit again. Awesome experience for me as a young filmmaker, I'm recommending to all of you to submit. Great job, guys, this is how great festival should act and look like. Keep up the good work.
