Born and raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico, José Maestas moved to LA for a life in stand up comedy. Having written and performed comedy since he was 18, José hit the ground running in LA and has performed at many well-known clubs with an energetic brand of physical comedy, impressions, and characters. Growing up Chicano shaped his sense of humor, love of family, and his perspective on America.
José has twice awarded “Best in Show” at the Burbank Comedy Festival and NBC’s Nosotros monologue Finalist.
He recently made his theater debut, starring in 638, a comedy focused on a fictional assassination attempt on Fidel Castro. The world premiere production won the playwright award at the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
Many of the funniest comics have appeared on his monthly show at the Hollywood Improv entitled Applause Break, including Preacher Lawson and Adam Sandler.
