Jordan Paul Rousseau was born on the second of January 1996, on a cold winter’s night. At a very young age, he discovered his passion for music when he saw his great-grandmother play the piano. It was then that he knew that he wanted to become a musician. Throughout his childhood he would play a couple of instruments. In his teenage years he would play in a vast array of bands, tour around and write music for other artists.
After the loss of his great-grandmother, he would go back to where it all began. Rousseau sat down at the piano, started composing and never looked back. For years he focussed on finding his own musical voice. Being inspired by the sounds and textures of nature and the beauty of silence. His style is minimal and raw. The strength of Rousseau's music lies in conveying a message with a minimum amount of information. His haunting and often simple melodies have created some of the most memorable moments in recent indie cimena history.
When Rousseau is not in his studio, you can find him painting or writing poetry.
Rousseau’s career in film started when a friend of his asked him to compose a theme for her short film. In 2022, he won his first award at Cannes Film Awards for Best Composer for the drama Burn the Time. This in turn made him a household name in the independent film industry.
In 2023, Rousseau did it again and won the award for Best Composer of The Future at Cannes.
Besides his endeavours in the world of film and tv, Rousseau has established himself as one of the top sound designers in the fashion industry.
Providing the soundscapes for household names such as Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Tom Ford, Moschino and Burberry to name a few.
His soundscapes have also been featured in some of the most legendary fashion magazines such as Vogue's September Issue, ICON, Harper's Bazaar and L'Officiel.
