Jewish filmmaker of Italian, German, and Lithuanian descent. Raised and currently residing in Brooklyn, New York.
My work in film is a two-fold investigation into my own life and the world around me as well as into the medium of film itself. Never satisfied with status quo, my work is founded in the unyielding belief that—in the young history of film—there are yet more ways to utilize the audio-visual medium to make meaning than are currently known.
Creatively I draw inspiration from a variety of sources including David Foster Wallace's "single entendre" thesis, the short films of Rudy Burckhardt, Yasujiro Ozu's masterworks, the plays and stories of Chekhov, children's books from my childhood, visual artists Paul Cezanne, Donald Judd, Mark Rothko, and Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, musicians Pharaoh Sanders and William Basinski, playing outside as a kid, and most importantly, the everyday experiences of being alive.
