Christian DiFrancia is a senior at Rowan University, majoring in Radio, Television & Film. Christian serves as treasurer of Rowan's movie club, Cinema Workshop, where he has worked in a variety of crew positions. This film was his directorial debut as a student filmmaker. In high school, Christian interned with Oak Leaf Media of Tuckerton, New Jersey. He graduated from Pinelands Regional High School in 2017, where he was very active in the theater department and developed a love of narrative storytelling.
I wrote John Flick for Cinema Workshop's winter screenwriting contest, as a freshman. The idea came from looking back on high school theater. It dawned on me that by the age of 18, a third of my life had been spent doing plays and musicals with Pinelands Thespians. I grew up, I learned lessons, and I made meaningful connections on that stage. It made sense to write from a setting I was familiar with, but I wanted to put a twist on it. I was lucky to have a crew of experienced filmmakers who were really passionate about the story. Making a short film from start to finish has been such a learning experience, and I hold immense gratitude for everyone who helped make it happen.
