Joel Blass
Joel Blass was a public servant to Mississippi, working as an army captain, attorney, Mississippi legislator, and Mississippi Supreme Court Justice. During Mississippi’s racially and politically troubled times in the 50’s and 60’s, he fought to realize his vision of what Mississippi could and should be. Vilified in the press and threatened by the forces of segregation, he inspired his fellow Mississippians to boldly carve out a new future for their state. From the battlegrounds of France and Germany in WWII to the battlegrounds of the state legislature and courts of law, Joel Blass fought for justice, freedom, and equal rights for every citizen.
