Experiencing Interruptions?

Jiki Jiki (a cultural shift)

Jiki Jiki (A cultural shift)
Follows Debbie Molefe, a gender non
conforming person living in contemporary
Johannesburg, South Africa. Set in the
backdrop of a bustling and vibrant city, Debby
takes us through the lived experience of being
perceived as different in one of the only Africa country where it is legal to be trans. We explore what little spaces they are allowed to exist and express them selves in. Through
play, music becomes a vehicle of expression
and a self made safe space.
This film seeks to shift perspectives on the
place of non cisgender bodies in a changing
world. We probe; "how and where do we create safe spaces for gender non conforming bodies in Africa?"
