John Pennick aka Black Deniro was born and raised in the boisterous streets of Philadelphia. Like most kids in his neighborhood he grew up listening to rap music, and was influenced by the music of Run DMC and Big Daddy Kane. Their music ignited his creativity and passion to begin his own journey into the music world. With his first hit record "Superman" Black Deniro caught the attention of the whole neighborhood which lead him to a more serious pursuit into a music career. With hit record after hit record he became a legend in Philadelphia and has recorded music with almost every artist in Philly, including Meek Mill, Beanie Sigel, Cassidy, Freeway, Chris and Neef, and close friend Gillie Da Kid, to name a few.
A few years ago, Black Deniro decided to expand his creative talents and embark on a new career in film. Being a jack of all trades, Black Deniro not only acts, he also writes and directs his own films. The first short film he released called “It's More 2 Da Story” received nationwide acceptance and has received more than 10 million views on YouTube. Following that success Black Deniro released his second full length film titled “Brush”, which also was praised by his fans and critics around the country receiving over a million views on YouTube and sold out movie premieres in theaters. "Brush" was also featured in the Los Angeles Film Festival. Most recently Black Deniro has released his latest film titled “Backfire” that took the city and the world by storm. After multiple sold out movie premieres "Backfire" was acquired by every major streaming platform such as Fios, Xfinity and Redbox to name a few. Once again the world is loving and gravitating to the film which caught the eye of one of the largest and most influential streaming platforms in the world, Netflix. "Backfire" was streaming and trending on Netflix earning its place amongst the best movies in entertainment. Black Deniro's next big movie production "Jennie" is schedule to make its debut 2021. Outside of music & films, Black Deniro focuses on helping the youth of Philadelphia stay in school, stop the violence and encourages them to pursue their dreams and use their talents. He goes to schools, community centers, and youth events to influence kids to live for the future and staying out of trouble. Being a father and a influential figure Black Deniro is always striving to better himself by continuing to work on his craft, increase his talents, and stay a positive trailblazer in his community.
