Jelena!

I am standing on a passage above the biggest highway knot in Belgrade. I keep calling my name, facing the camera. I let an inner journey begin. Every emotion I feel along the way is expressed with only one word: “Jelena”. I call mostly as loud as possible, but I also whisper, until complete emotional exhaustion. The camera is fixed, taking a close shot of my face and the highway in the background. This is a video about losing/looking for/finding oneself during the course of life. One often thinks that they are special and not-a-kind-of-person who will become merely a cogwheel in the mechanism of life. Then we find ourselves held hostage by our emotions, by our sense of loyalty, our vows, our own ambition, habits, constant need to fix things, to not give up, to win… When a transformative moment/situation/decision/revelation comes, we are stunned by the fact that we left ourselves behind… That is a moment when we want to summon ourselves up….
