Another world - ElRock - A chance to live a hundred life's

Another world is a documentary movie serial which describes the life's of a persons which grown up true breakin' and Hip Hop subculture, and on aria of Balkan were building it since 90'. The film is composed of authentic archival footage from the 90's and earlier 2000's that was shot by the breakers themselves through that period with their personal cameras.

Elvis Hodžić, better known as El Rock, started to break in 1996 in Zagreb, it was the beginning of an interesting ride that enabled him an interesting career in the dancing world, but also influenced his further development in life. Inspired by the breakin', he found his passion in the study of the body and its functioning, and through education on this topic he found and built himself as a body instructor and future doctor of osteopathy.

How that journey from his youth through dance and the company of El Rock led to the choice of his vocation and vocation look at this story, as Elvis would say the break is “The Opportunity to Live a Hundred Lives”.

Director Biography - Vladimir AtomiRoc Smud

Born in Zagreb, Croatia in 1978, at his early ages he lived in Velika Gorica (a city next to zagreb) where he met breakin’ after he finished elementary school. In 1993 he started his journey in music and dance. Not long after his beginning in 1996 he started to teach breakin’ and in that way became one of the persons who were working on the development of urban culture in his area.

Few years after in 2001 because he was traveling around and meeting many good dancers who became friends, he started to organize events. That was a chance for him to invite his friends to meet him and where is he coming from, his life was dedicated to that dance and culture.

By traveling around the Europe and the world, he made his name well known in breakin’ circles but also learned a lot about the culture and the way how you can develop it. From 2006 he started to be involved in theater shows and in 2009 with the help of independent producers he choreographed his first theater show “M. Butterfly” breakin’ opera.

In 2017 he started to collect video materials of breakin’ from his region and develop an archive of it. Since then video production started to become a goal in the direction of film and as an educational tool. In 2019 the idea for a documentary movie series “Another World” was born and the project started to grow.
