In 1996 I was preparing to shoot my first independent feature film, THE DEVIL'S CELLO. During preproduction I was sent a six minute test-roll of VISION 500T from Kodak.
I had an idea! Rather than simply filming test shots of lights and colors and skin tones, maybe I should make a short little practice movie instead?!
So that’s what I did, I typed out a quick script and used my test-roll to make a short film.
But by the time the developed roll returned from the lab, I had already begun production on my feature film.
So those six minutes of unedited film remained rolled up in a can. For years!
In October, 2023 I pulled the can out of an old box of film stuff and, at long last, cut my little practice movie together.
So now—nearly 30 years later, I present to you for the first time, my 1996 film…CINEPHILE.
