Jasmine Rose aka J.R. Screenplay

When a well-respected Navel Executive Officer’s daughter is diagnosed with cancer, she turns to illegal gambling to keep her daughter alive, but her gambling empire might be the very thing that ends her daughter’s life.

Captain Jasmine Rose Aguillard, second in command at one of the largest joint force bases in the southeast, has a huge decision to make. Does she stay with her philandering husband, Captain David Aguillard, who serves as her superior on base as first command and is also a minister at one of the largest churches in South Carolina, or does she expose him for the hypocrite he has become?
As she contemplates her position in the matter, she is also faced with impending test results regarding their daughter, Marigold, who has been ill for some time. How does this decision affect her daughter’s future?

After confirming her daughter’s horrible diagnosis of Leukemia, she runs to her husband for comfort, only to find him behind closed doors with another female sailor. She makes the rash decision of not only leaving him but threatening both their lives with military artillery, which results in both being dishonorably discharged with no plan for how they will financially support the medical needs of their daughter.

After discharge and divorce, Jasmine Rose, who is also a former bookie, opens a legal casino with illegal after-hour bets. Her place of business? Right in the heart of Little Italy—an area of Charleston where an Italian family holds control of all real estate and land development. She partners with her gullible and overly ambitious nephew, who, unbeknownst to her, brokers a lousy deal, allowing their Italian landlords to continually gouge them for real estate.
When the stakes become too high for her nephew, he works out a “winner takes all” poker game, and after a hard night, they win the casino outright and an additional $500,000 to boot! But, when the matriarch of the Italian mob finds out about the loss, she takes matters into her own hands. And, although those hands can be warm and sweet like any other grandmother, they can also be the hand that deals the deck of death.

Ultimately, Jasmine Rose must make the best out of the hand she is dealt. But, she relies on the people in her life to play the game—from the ministers and members at her church to her military command, they come guns blazing as they fight to keep not only the empire they built but to save the life of her daughter—not just as she battles with Leukemia but a group of Italian mobsters who use her as a pawn to break down the very empire built to save her life.
