Director Statement

Jan and Jimi is my first short film, which I wrote and directed. It takes place in the city where I grew up, Tel Aviv. The big city in the film is portrayed in its beauty, like Manhattan by Woody Allen. and like Manhattan, although the city is a romantic environment, romantic love is not possible.
Jan, who chose the bourgeois life of family and career, confronts the life that she missed, the nostalgic memory of her youth. The rebellious girl that she once was who never bowed down to authority. Meeting Jimi, she tries to revive that girl, to come together with her young love – with whom she might have had a different life.
Jan realizes there is no turning back. Even though she is unhappy in her ordinary and square life, the gap between her and Jimi shows her she is no longer that rebellious girl.
Jan and Jimi deals with class differences in the city of Tel Aviv, with unreliable nostalgia, with ideological freedom and its prices - versus the freedom of comfort and its own prices.
