Director Statement

'Janabear' explores the relationship of two polar opposite sisters, through the memory of one and the written word of the other. We dive into the core of how they love, lived and struggled to understand each-other. It questions how we search for understanding and meaning where there often isn't an answer and how when one moves away there is often very little we can do but relive the life we had with them, feeling the loss of their daily presence.

A functional retelling to shine a light on how easy it is for those we love to move away and all we have left is an echo of who they were before they left. Stylistically I wanted to keep the story simple and real with the hope that it shines a light on a global issue that sees millions of families oceans apart.
