Jamdani

Jamdani is a fine muslin Saree produced for centuries in South Rupshi of Narayanganj district in Bangladesh on the bank of Shitalakhwa river. The historic production of jamdani was patronized by the Mughal emperors. In 2013, the traditional art of weaving jamdani was declared a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Despite such a reputation, Jamdani weavers are still living inhuman lives. This documentary is about Jamdani weavers.

Director Biography - Zobayer Raihan

Mr. Zobayer is a student of film studies at Bangladesh Cinema and Television Institute (BCTI). He has three years of experience making a variety of documentary films. Strong passion for creating independent documentary films. His subjects of interest are the effect of climate change, gender-based violence, social prejudice, indigenous people, and culture. Also, have practice in scriptwriting and cinematography.
This is his first practical work.
