Jakub Raček, an Ottawa-based filmmaker, was born in Bratislava, Slovakia and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada where he currently works as an audio engineer and audio recording instructor. Jakub has always had a passion for film and has since worked on various film and audio productions. His short film, Milan, marks his screenwriting and directorial debut. The film is a collaboration with his father, Tomáš J.M. Raček, a Slovak actor and director with over 200 film, television, and theatre credits to his name. Jakub's wife, Stephanie J. Raček, also composed original music for the film. The film is inspired by real-life events and is a commentary on the career struggles immigrants face when living in a new country.
