J
The film “J” is based on a true life story. This film unveils a particular night in the life of a person whose body is half paralyzed, due to an unexpected accident that happened during his teenage days.
He could not accept his half paralyzed body. Therefore, he arranged for the contract killing of himself and is awaiting death. He longs for the momentous mission of death, which he can’t do without the assistance of others.
Due to certain unforeseen happenings, the contract killers couldn’t come that night as per the plan. The nightmare of waiting for death has traumatized him. But the emotional misery has helped him to recognize the value of life, and decide to live.
The life story of Jesus Christ, who foresaw his own death and underwent emotional struggles, and encountered the most cruel death, and later resurrected, is compared with this experience of this person. This film tries to unveil certain similar happenings, which are experienced by these two persons in their life.

I am Vinil Joseph, hailing from the village of Kallar in Kasargod District, in the state of Kerala from India. I have been in the field of journalism for the last 12 years, and I have contributed immensely in the field of story writing and feature film.
This short film is prepared based on a feature which was written on a well known newspaper. Ten years ago, I directed the reviewers’ acclaimed short film titled ‘The Bell of Death’. The short film “J” has been prepared after a long gap.
The short film ‘J’ is based on the idea of bringing a real event that I have witnessed first-hand to the public platform. The wonder that I have experienced with my ears and eyes seemed to be passed on to others. The best way to do that was to visualize that life experience. When the experience became a vision, the fact of creativity became apparent, and the similar death and resurrection of Jesus Christ ascended to that possibility. So, while trying to depict that life experience, I'm trying to bring some other lives into it. I gladly submit this short film to you as the visual medium is the most efficient way to convey the message of my attempt with the intensity that it deserves.
