Diana is a graphic designer with a degree in "Communication Design", and a Master's in “Image Design” at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. Art has always been a way of expressing desires, feelings and experiences. A way to convert a feeling to other media. For her, cinema is the magic of imagination coming to life on screen, where stories intertwine with emotions and transport us to unexplored worlds, awakening our imagination and enriching our understanding of the world.
From an original argument, I decided to develop a short film edition, due to my affinity with this area. The result was a storytelling format, whose theme embraces the danger of social networks, and the distortion of this virtual reality, which nothing compares to the physical world. Titled “It’s not a match.”, this is how this video of obsessive pursuit and pursuit comes about, where I focused on the social network “Tinder”, known for connecting people online in a romantic way.
The Plot Twist present at the end, during the climax, intends to offer an environment of discomfort, and leave it up to each one, what may happen later.
In this way, the short addresses a theme of manipulation, danger, seduction and illusion, when exploring a theme so recent, but so dangerous today. A way to capture the audience from the beginning, by conveying this message clearly through mystery and restlessness.
In the short there are two "Easter Eggs", that is, hidden clues that would already reveal a little bit of the ending. The first is present in the character's name, "Fraus". This name is the meaning of fraud and deceit, in Latin. The second clue is in the library, focusing on the name of the book that the girl is reading, “The Killing”.
