My name is Uche Aguh, I am a 26 year old formerly trained doctor. I was born and raised in Port Harcourt, a small city in Nigeria. I have resided in Texas and other places of the US for many years. I attended the University of Texas at Austin for undergraduate studies, Mississippi College for graduate studies, and Howard University College of Medicine for Doctoral studies in medicine. In my last year of doctoral studies, I decided to go forth with my long standing vision of making film. I did it quietly and bravely. And not bravely for the sake of having been brave, but rather because it was the only way I could find myself again. I found the process to be most rewarding, stressful at times, but in a sense extremely visceral.
Springing from a generation so disgusted by our pasts that we fear its resurface, I tell stories to remind people of the danger that exists in bigotry and segregation. The traffic of life is silenced when I create, so that I am attentive to everything as they are, as they come to me. I question the world of reasoning, of love and its entangling webs of brutality, and harbour a shy excitement at the thought of a freer world where people, and the art they create, could exist, untampered, like the petals of a delicate flower
