Imke Reintjens is a freshly graduated animator and aspiring director.
Originally born in the Netherlands but studied animated film in Belgium.
Imke finds inspiration in the natural world, our connection to the world around us and between living beings, and hopes to keep exploring the human condition through film.
I was inspired by the pagan tradition of the Mari Lwyd from Wales.
While researching I found a connection to the christian Virgin Mary and the film took a life of its own.
It stopped being about a mythical horse and became a representation of duality.
Two ways of grieving, two sides of faith, barely surviving paganism versus ever encroaching christianity.
This is why I decided to give both characters their own narrative and created a video installation of two films projected side by side.
The film can be projected on one screen, displayed as a video installation or possibly even turned into a VR installation.
