''Life can be beautiful, scary and rough. So sometime’s, my films are too. Do you dare to tell this story?''
Ira Hoefsmid is a freshly graduated filmmaker, who focusses on social and and existential questions in her short documentaries. Working from the Netherlands but with an international focus she hopes to dive into the industry with her first film ''Twenty-Seven''
''When I was 13 years old, I bought my first ever camcorder. Ever since then, I haven’t let it go. I am Ira and I film. Filming to me means that I look at my life, the life of others and the world around me through a cameralens. As a maker I use my camera as my research method, and then tell the stories I find in that research. I think the human soul is something beautifully complicated and wile observing and participating I try to really get to know people so I can tell their stories. With a good dose of existentialism and a little bit of rebellion I hope to tell those stories that make us who we are as a species. That is my ambition.''
