Io ti conosco

Dopo aver ultimato il ritratto di un bambino accompagnato dal padre, un vecchio pittore ritrova nel volto di quest'ultimo una incredibile somiglianza con un suo vecchio amico, morto tragicamente durante la prima guerra mondiale. Il pittore dovrà farsi strada tra i suoi terribili ricordi per riuscire a trovare la serenità d'animo tanto a lungo desiderata.

After completing the portrait of a child, accompanied by his father,
an old painter finds an incredible resemblance in his face to an old
friend of his, who died tragically during the First World War. The
painter will therefore have to make his way through his terrible
memories to be able to find the peace he has long desired.

Director Biography - Marco Mancinelli

Nato a L’Aquila il 23/08/1994. Dopo aver conseguito il diploma nel 2013 presso l’istituto tecnico per geometri dell’Aquila, intraprende il percorso universitario per diventare ingegnere. Abbandonati gli studi, qualche mese più tardi, comincia a lavorare come tuttofare per alcuni filmmakers del panorama aquilano. Viene poi a conoscenza della scuola di cinema IFA di Pescara. Frequenta la scuola e al suo secondo anno produce in collaborazione con il direttore artistico della scuola, Cristiano Di Felice, il suo primo cortometraggio “Io Ti Conosco’’.

Born in L'Aquila on 08/23/1994. After graduating in 2013 at the
technical institute for surveyors in L'Aquila, he began his university career to become an engineer. After leaving his studies, a few months later, he began working as a handyman for some filmmakers in the L'Aquila area. He then became acquainted with the IFA cinema school in Pescara. He attends school and in his second year produces in collaboration with the artistic director of the school, Cristiano Di Felice, his first short film “Io Ti Conosco’’.

Io Ti Conosco è un cortometraggio che vuole raccontare la vita di uomo schiacciato dal peso della perdita. L’apatia per tutto ciò che lo circonda e il totale stato di degrado in cui vive ci fanno intuire un suo essere rimasto ancorato al passato. Non riesce a perdonarsi ciò che ha fatto e ciò che ha visto. Vorrebbe rimettere insieme i pezzi della sua vita, attraverso la pittura, ma tutto ciò che ne viene fuori sono immagini mostruose di compagni caduti. Riesce a ricordarli solo per come sono morti e non per come erano in vita. Forse rivedendo nel padre del bambino un volto familiare la sua anima troverà finalmente la pace.

Io Ti Conosco is a short film that wants to tell the life of a man crushed by the weight of loss. The apathy for all that surrounds him and the total state of degradation in which he lives make us guess his being remained anchored to the past. He cannot forgive himself for what he has done and what he has seen. He would like to put the pieces of his life back together, through painting, but all that comes out of it are monstrous images of fallen comrades. He can only remember them for how they died and not how they were alive.
Perhaps seeing again in the father of the child a familiar face, his soul will finally find peace.
