Fed up with the prejudices of the outside world, Anthony seeks help from his Cuban mother, Cachita. Cachita invokes a saint in a Santeria ritual to show Anthony the path forward.

Director Biography - Christopher Gonzales

Chris Gonzales is a Colorado Native and First generation American. The son of a Cuban Refugee, Chris has been chasing the American Dream his entire life. After being the first one in his family to graduate high school, Chris went to Mesa State to play football on a partial scholarship but lost his spot on the team due to injuries. After having multiple surgeries Chris was able to get a spot on The Lamar Junior College Basketball team until another injury took away any chance to play contact sports again.
Years later Chris enrolled back into school and was the first in his family to go to and graduate from a college. He received his associate in Recording Arts from Front Range Community College. After that, he went onto CU Denver and enrolled into The Film and Television program. He has directed 2 student films that he wrote and has been a sound recordist on multiple films. Chris’s hope is to graduate with a Bachelors degree and go onto to write for television and create a musical that can be on Broadway.

Director Statement

Writer/director Chris Gonzales, set out to tell a story about implicit Biases and how they affected his upbringing and made him question his place in American society. People assuming he had the worst intentions in everyday situations stunted the growth of his identity because he had to wear the mask many people projected onto him.
