The Invisible Walls of Occupation is an interactive documentary about Burqah, a Palestinian village. It was produced for human rights NGO B'Tselem. With a view to leaving visitors with a better grasp of what life is like under occupation, we invite the audience on a tour of a Palestinian village. News from conflict areas usually shows extreme incidents of shootings and physical violence, we rarely get to see what happens inside the houses in the background. This project shows how the occupation affects every aspect of life. By having the village residents inviting viewers into their homes and lives, and sharing their stories, combined with a unique interactive experience, we get as close as possible to a real visit to a Palestinian community. The walls of the occupation not only restrict their lives, they restrict the world's access to their stories. We wanted to break down those walls, even if only for a brief tour.
B'Tselem is the Israeli information center for human rights in the occupied territories.
The movie was produced with the Montreal based studio-Folklore.
