Hello! My name is Steven Strickland and I am the director of Shashone Lambert’s ‘Investments: The Series. This is a landmark project for me. As it is my transition from directing theater to film…per ‘se. The ultimate objective is to assure that the writer’s vision becomes a well executed creation of art. Being an actor myself, allows me the opportunity to direct from the inside out and communicate with the actors what is needed and/or what might help. I feel the beauty of the story lies in the performance quality of the dialogue provided. Subtle nuances and gestures throughout can set tones and memorable moments. I like to give the editor something to work with. *Wink*!
Working on the set of Investments is an awesome experience. This is a great collective of artistry. Shashone is a very talented producer/writer/actor. It is an honor to help her with her vision. The cast members bring open minds to set, which makes room for experiences to happen within the work. The Director of Photography, along with the lighting/ sound crew brings a level of professionalism and passion that helps get the job done. We have a good time on set. I like for the set to be relaxed, but when It’s time to work….LETS WORK!
What I love that about this project is its unpredictability. No one knows where this series’ storyline is going or what is going to happen next. Working from episode to episode allows my direction of the actors to focus on where they are and not where they will be. Make sense? This process is helping me find my style as a director. I’m learning why directors accept certain projects and turn others down. If we (sounding like a director that has been in the game for a while..lol) don’t believe it, how can we expect the audience to. I was very intrigued by the synopsis and the overall vision behind this work. I hope that you enjoy watching and following Investments: TheSeries as much as I enjoy directing it.
